The Macdonald-Cartier Bridge (MCB) works will consist  in a construction phase that will facilitate strengthening the MCB structure to address existing demands as well as ESAP-ESM Pipe demands.

The Macdonald-Cartier Bridge spans between Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec over the Ottawa River and is one of five interprovincial crossings and one of two truck crossings between the two cities. The crossing links King Edward Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario with Autoroute 5 in Gatineau, Quebec. The Macdonald-Cartier Bridge (MCB) is to undergo structural strengthening and modification.

During girder strengthening work, crews will be working on the box girders' interior installing new reinforcement. Additional crews will be working on the box girders' exterior, installing bolts to facilitate interior reinforcement, reinforcing and replacing bolts on the bridge floor beams. During this phase of work, barge placement under the bridge to facilitate access will influence the navigable waterway.
