Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Service Line Repair Project

In support of ongoing operations at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited's (AECL) Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) site, physical activities need to be undertaken to replace a section of approximately 85 metres of buried service airline that requires replacement. The airline is located on previously disturbed land and where there is potential for soil contamination to be present.  Portions of asphalt will be removed to facilitate the excavation, but no vegetation clearing will be required. The excavations will be approximately 1 metre in depth and 1 metre wide.  All soil will be stockpiled for subsequent reuse, as appropriate.

The proposed work is scheduled to occur in the fall of 2021. All activities will be conducted in accordance with the environmental policy that directs the management and operation of AECL's sites and all applicable legislation.
