Improve Austere Village Project - Canadian Forces Base Kingston

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. The Improve Austere Village Project (the Project) will involve the installation of a gravel pad and the construction of a training area. This training area will be constructed to include gravel roads and temporary structures (sea containers). The temporary structures will be modified with doors and windows, interior lighting and electrical receptacles, as well as exterior lighting. It is expected that power will be supplied via generator as required for training, and no permanent utilities are expected to be installed under the Project. The Project is required as the existing outdoor training area is at end of life and poses safety risks due to its degraded condition. Additionally, the presence of Species at Risk (SAR) has rendered the existing site unsuitable for further development, necessitating the design and construction of a new training area.
