Zibi Community Utility Project

Zibi Community Utility (Zibi) proposes to install and operate six pipelines, approximately 150 m each in length, to transport water (with an anticorrosive agent) at different temperatures between Quebec and Ontario to support its District Thermal System Project. At the source point, the proposed pipelines will be connected to a proposed above-ground valve within an existing right-of-way which crosses National Capital Commission property on the northern riverbank of the Ottawa River in Gatineau, Quebec. Two new pipe bridges will be installed to support the pipelines from the shoreline of Gatineau to the Chaudière Bridge, and the pipelines will be mounted beneath the deck of the Chaudière Bridge (a federal asset managed by Public Services and Procurement Canada) along its length. At the delivery point (Zibi development property), the pipelines will be connected to existing buried pipelines on the Chaudière Islands, Ontario, approximately 50 m from the Chaudière Bridge, with a new valve connection.  No in-water work is required. Zibi proposes to install the valve stations, pipe bridges and pipe on the pipe bridges over a 6 to 8 week period in Summer/Fall 2020, with pipe installation on the Chaudière Bridge taking place in June 2021.
