Northvolt Six Battery Plant

Northvolt Batteries North America Inc. is proposing to construct and operate a lithium-ion battery manufacturing complex in the cities of Saint-Basile-le-Grand and McMasterville, Quebec. As proposed, the Northvolt Six complex would include a battery cell component production and assembly plant, a crushing and sorting facility, and a battery recycling plant.

December 20, 2024 — On December 19, 2024, the President of the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada has decided not to designate the Northvolt Six Battery Plant proposed by Northvolt Batteries North America Inc. under the Impact Assessment Act. The reasons for the President’s decision are provided in the President’s response.
