Ontario Waterways- TSW- Pretty Channel Road Upgrade

Parks Canada, Trent-Severn Waterway intends to utilize a portion of an existing road and hydro line corridor and to connect to the existing recreational trail to provide access for future dam rehabilitation and access for dam operations and maintenance. Portion of the proposed route pass through land owned by Hydro One, crown land managed by and Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry (MNR) and a smaller portion of the Severn River Conservation Reserve. The existing trail would also require improvements to upgrade it to a suitable standard to accommodate vehicle traffic. Following some tree clearing and grubbing for widening, aggregate would be placed in low-lying areas to make it suitable for vehicles. Some high areas need to be excavate for safer vehicle grades and some existing road curves slightly straightened for safer sight lines. Drainage culverts are required in low-lying wet areas.

December 23, 2022 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Parks Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
