Long Lake Dam Replacement

The project is a complete replacement of the dam in the same location as the existing dam. The main work involves the complete demolition of the existing main dam, construction of a new dam in the same location and orientation. Other works include clearing for laydown and project staging and construction of temporary cofferdams. Parks Canada owns the asset but not the associated, adjacent properties. Therefore, this is not a "project" as defined under section 81 of the Impact Assessment and is not being conducted under the Act. Rather the assessment is being conducted under Parks Canada's IA Directive (2019), to meet Parks Canada's mandated obligations to protect Canada's natural and cultural heritage.
