Trent Rapids Power Corporation (TRPC), Peterborough Utilities Inc (PUI) Hydro Intake Excavation

The overall intent of this project is to excavate a small portion of the lands north of the intake structure of the Robert G. Lake Generating Station to reduce head losses and improve energy production. This shall involve the excavation and dredging of approximately 950 m2. Approximately 455 m3 of overburden and 1,410 m3 of bedrock is expected to be removed (~1900 m3 total). This project is anticipated to be completed between August and October 2021.


Latest update

February 20, 2021 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Parks Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
