Farewell Street and Harbour Road Reconstruction and Extension

HOPA is proposing to improve vehicular access to the East Wharf at the Port of Oshawa. Access to the East Wharf is via the intersection of Farewell Street and Harbour Road and is currently limited to two lanes along Farewell Street in poor condition. The project proposes to:

  • Widen Farewell Street from an existing 2-lane road to a 4-lane road for 200 m south from the Harbour Road intersection to the East Wharf entrance gate
  • Extend Farewell Street as a 2-lane road 320 m south of the entrance gate within an existing vehicular right-of-way
  • Extend Harbour Road as a 2-lane road 410 m east of the Farewell Street intersection within the footprint of an existing multi-use trail.  The trail will be rebuilt elsewhere by others.

Utilities, storm water management infrastructure, streetlights, security cameras, fencing and gates are being added or replaced along the project corridor. Transport Canada is providing partial funding for the work through the National Trade Corridors Fund.
