7672 Elgin Mills Hospice Development

Evergreen Community Hospice is proposing cosmetic renovations to the interior and exterior of their leased building located on Elgin Mills Road. Outside the house, an accessibility ramp will be installed, a paved parking area to fit 10 cars will be created, and the circular driveway at the front of the property will be shortened and paved. Five prefabricated tiny homes (pods) will be placed on the property to house staff and families for temporary stays. Native trees will be planted along the front of the property for privacy and a pollinator garden will be established in the front yard. Two possible two-story extensions may be added to the back of the building for additional bedding in the future. The project will potentially include the repair or installation of service lines, hook-ups, or a septic (wastewater management) system and associated vegetation clearing.

August 3 2025 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Parks Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
