Modernisation essentielle des télécommunications radar Installation de fibre optique à Toronto

NAV CANADA plans to replace existing degraded copper cables between the Toronto radar site and the Runway 23 LOC at Toronto Pearson International Airport. 

The project involves the installation of approximately 1.9 km of new fibre optic cable on existing airport property from the receiver site on the west side of the West Service Road, north of Courtneypark Drive East, and will terminate at the Runway 23 Localizer east of Dixie Road. 1.9 km of new cabling will be installed in new 100mm diameter HDPE conduit installed through an open trench approximately 0.3 m wide and 0.6 m deep within existing land areas currently maintained by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). Approximately 40 m of cable west of the North Service Road will be installed elevated to cross Etobicoke Creek. The overhead crossing will consist of 9 mm messenger cable securely attached to 16 ft (4.88 m) poles at each end, buried to a depth of 1.8 m. The new poles will be located outside the 50-year flood line and all work within the Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) regulated area will comply with TRCA requirements.
