Private Landowner Shoreline stabilization, Shore wall, Trent-Severn Waterway, Shoreline Works Permit 200127

In order to prevent erosion, the land owner is proposing to install rock slope protection by placing 15cm to 30cm rounded granite boulders along 30m of shoreline to protect against wave action from boat traffic. Rock is to be ported by barge and placed presumably by machine. Footprint is approximated to be 30m x 2.5m, for 75m². Rock will be in water during spring freshet at higher river levels and partly in water during the rest of the year. The proposed project takes place along the shore of the Severn River in southern Ontario, in waters falling under the jurisdiction of Parks Canada and administered by Ontario Waterways, the Trent-Severn Waterway. The proposed project is located within an area identified as hosting Blanding's Turtle (SARA Endangered) Critical Habitat.
