Breakwater replacement - Burrard Yacht Club

The Burrard Yacht Club is proposing to replace an existing the western wooden breakwater with a purpose-built concrete breakwater within their waterlot located at 10 Gostick Place, North Vancouver, BC. The project consists of the following:

  • Temporary removal of two structures from the existing breakwater using a crane: one storage building and one electrical shed
  • Removal of the existing wooden breakwater along the western edge of the water lot. The current breakwater is comprised of four wooden pontoon sections that are approximately 12.5 m wide by 33.5 m long (41' x 110'). The existing breakwater will be towed off site using a barge.
  • Replace two 36" diameter steel pile piles with longer (approximately 100' long) steel pile piles using a vibratory hammer
  • Placement of a purpose-built concrete breakwater on the western edge of the water lot. The concrete breakwater is comprised of two cement pontoon sections that are approximately 12.2 m wide by 70 m long (40' x 230' long). The breakwater will be fabricated off site and towed to site using a barge.
  • Replacement of the two structures on the new concrete breakwater using a crane
