BC Aviation Museum Project Description

Project Type: Upgrade of access road to museum

Schedule: July 2024 to August 2024

The project involves upgrades to the gravel access road from Taxiway Sierra to the BC Aviation Museum. Construction activities will generally occur during normal business hours and will include the construction of a 10m wide access road with 4" of topsoil removal, and the addition 8" of millings to support the transport of the Hawaii Mars to its final destination at the BC Aviation Museum.

The project is located airside on the eastern region of the airport.  Construction activities are not expected to affect airport operations.

The public comment period on this project is closed.  The VAA has determined that the proposed project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • Impacts on the rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • Community knowledge;
  • Comments received from the public; and
  • Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
  • Development and approval of a site-specific Environmental Protection Plan
