Methanol tug loading - Univar

The Applicant is proposing to install rail and truck unloading equipment, a new storage tank in the existing containment area, piping, and a new float in the waterlot. This would allow the facility to receive this fuel by train or truck, and load specially equipped vessels with methanol as a marine fuel.

The customer for this project is Kotug Canada, which offers escort tug services in the region. Methanol allows the vessels to operate on an alternative fuel which offers lower air emissions than conventional marine diesel. Methanol is not currently available to marine vessels in the Port of Vancouver.

Works include a new storage tank, piping and vapour return lines, a new float, and related hardware to allow fuelling of marine vessels.
