Snaw-Naw-As Multi Use Trail (Phase 2) for Nanoose First Nation, BC

The proposed project aims to provide access to the Nation's waterfront from the community's primary residential area, campground and playground, and on Snaw-Naw-As Road, as well as the Market and employment centre along the Island Highway and Lantzville Road. The proposed project will implement a ~295 m asphalt pathway extension that connects the community's waterfront to the pathway on Snaw-Naw-As Road. The project will take place on federal and developed land. The size of the project is ~1750 m2,  and will involve ~1560 m2 of excavation.

This project includes:

  • New bike rack or locker in developed areas under 100m2
  • New lights in developed areas
  • New benches in developed areas
  • New non-greenery landscaping
  • Expansion or increasing width of a multi-use path in a developed area
  • New greenery along new active transportation route
  • Planting trees

May 22, 2025 - Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada has determined that the proposed Snaw-Naw-As Multi Use Trail (Phase 2) for Nanoose First Nation, BC Project (the Project) is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
