FortisBC Eagle Mountain Barge Landing Improvements - Indian Arm

FortisBC Energy Inc. proposes to carry out improvements to an existing barge landing site at the head of Indian Arm of Burrard Inlet. The improvements are required so the site can be used to support project activities related to the proposed Eagle Mountain Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project. The barge landing would be used for the delivery of materials, equipment, and personnel to the eastern portion of the pipeline route.

The improvements would include expansion of a truck turn around area and upgrades to the exiting barge ramp.

Expansion of the truck turn around area:

  • Light grading
  • Minor vegetation clearing and soil stripping
  • Resurfacing with gravel
  • Removal of existing concrete lock blocks
  • of the five existing sea cans outside the Project area

Upgrades of the existing barge ramp:

  • Installation of lock block wall at the base of the ramp, above high-water mark to improve ramp stability
  • Placement of interlocking mats (or suitable alternative) on top of the lock block wall to improve stability
  • Installation of removable post guards at the top of the barge ramp, above high-water mark
  • Replacement of the existing anchor point as required (depending on strength testing)
  • Installation of a second anchor point on existing log chutes as required
