Canadian Coast Guard Discovery Mountain Marine Communications Site Upgrade

The Canadian Coast Guard is planning to expand and upgrade the existing Discovery Mountain Marine Communications and Traffic Services Station as part of the Oceans Protection Program, which aims to enhance navigational safety in Canadian waters. The project proposes to build a new communications tower and equipment building along with replacing the current fuel system with two 10, 000 L above ground fuel tanks. Vegetation brushing and small tree clearing will be required. The new infrastructure will be build along side the existing infrastructure. It is still to be determined if the current equipment building and tower will be decommissioned once the new equipment is operational or if it will remain in use.
