Sailor's Cove Marina Dock Upgrade

Sailor's Cove Marina Limited is proposing the replacement of the existing dock at Sailor's Cove Marina located at 525 Head Street, Esquimalt BC. Transport Canada is reviewing for approval under the Public Ports and Public Port Facilities Regulations, as the proposed works are on waters administered by Transport Canada. The proposed project site is in West Bay, Victoria Harbour, and is currently used for berthing small vessels and providing moorage for float homes and liveaboards.

The proposed project consists of removing and disposing of existing piles and dock components and installing new piles and dock components. Twenty-five creosote treated wood piles would be removed using a vibratory hammer and transported via barge for disposal off-site at an approved facility. Existing dock components would be craned out of the water, disassembled, and properly disposed. Replacement dock components consist of a main dock, six dock fingers, and two additional dock sections, all composed of steel with heavy vinyl covered styrofoam floatation. Up to eighteen new steel piles would be installed using a vibratory hammer to support the new docks. The proposed dock area (approximately 7,400 square ft) is larger and configured differently from the current area (approximately 2,640 square ft). Project activities are limited to offshore marine areas.

The project is expected to proceed in the summer of 2025.
