We Wai Kai - Quinsam Crossing Commercial and Industrial Development

The Quinsam Crossing area is a thriving commercial and industrial hub developed over the past two decades, and has seen significant growth in recent years.  The addition of commercial enterprises such as Starbucks, a liquor store, a marijuana dispensary, Finning/Caterpillar, and the Akers Development building has bolstered its appeal.  This proposal aims to finalize the last phase of development in this area.


Situated conveniently adjacent to the highway and close to Campbell River, demand for land in this location has remained consistently high.  The proposed project seeks to meet this demand by implementing necessary infrastructure, including a new roadway, water, and sanitary sewer along the Brant Drive Alignment, to service existing lots.  These lots will be earmarked for the construction of a future hotel, retail spaces, a grocery store, and an office building.  Transportation enhancements along Willis Road are slated to improve safety for users of the Quinsam Crossing complex.

Notice of intent to make a determination

Quinsam Crossing Commercial and Industrial Development – Public Comments Invited

 

November 18, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Quinsam Crossing Commercial and Industrial Development, located in Quinsam IR12, Campbell River, BC is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

 

Written comments must be submitted by December 19, 2025 to the BC Environment Team.
