Building demolition

VFPA Engineering (the Applicant) is proposing to demolish the southern portion of the structure located at 2285 Commissioner Street as the roughly 75 year old building poses a security and safety risk. The portion of the structure that is being proposed for demolition includes a three-storey office building and adjoining workshop section located to the west of the office building. The larger warehouse structure that is located behind (north of) the office and was erected on the wharf is not included as part of this project and would remain. Once the demolition is complete, the applicant would reclad the exposed sections of the warehouse to restrict access to the wharf. The footprint of the area that is being demolished is approximately 1,085 square metres.

Abatement and demolition activities are anticipated to begin in March 2025.
