Lower Nicola Indian Band Community Solar Gardens

The Proponent (Lower Nicola Indian Band, LNIB) intends to install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on key First Nation community and residential buildings in Lower Nicola, BC. The Lower Nicola Indian Band Community Solar Gardens Project (the Project) will involve the installation of solar panels on or near 16 buildings across three reserve lands, including the Shulus Arena, LNIB Health Building, LNIB Fire Hall, LNIB Social Housing Rentals, Rocky Pines Community Centre, Administration Building, Lands and Resources Building, and several Water Pump Houses. The Project would further the community's transition to low carbon, renewable energy sources while creating new economic development opportunities.

Building-mounted systems would not require any clearing, demolition of existing works, excavation or drilling, dredging or decommissioning. Ground-mounted systems (if applicable) could require minor works in developed areas (near existing buildings). No works would occur in water.

September 16, 2020 –  Infrastructure Canada issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
