Quadra Confidence Course Deconstruction - HMCS Quadra

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The HMCS Quadra Confidence Course, as part of 19 Wing Comox, is a confidence/obstacle course that is used by cadets in the summer months. The course no longer meets safety standards and will be deconstructed. The project site is near the K'omoks First Nation land on Goose Spit. Additionally, the site is located near sensitive habitat regulated by the Species at Risk Act. The project includes removal of all confidence course features, including concrete footings, tires, netting, and timber and metal structures. Plans for site restoration will be include leveling/regrading of site, backfill of any holes with existing soil, there will be no reseeding of the site. Deconstruction of the course is planned to occur during Fall and Winter 2023. Project is being undertaken by Department of National Defence, 19 Wing Comox, Real Property Operations.

Latest update

February 7, 2024— The Department of National Defence issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
