Erosion Control Structure Expansion, Cabbage Island

Ongoing monitoring by Parks Canada and First Nations partners has shown that the existing erosion control structure is not sufficient to mitigate the current levels of erosion at Cabbage Island. Parks Canada is proposing to expand the structure to mitigate further shoreline loss at the site. This work will involve limited tree removals, construction of new cribbing, and backfilling with gravel and rock.

Parks Canada will complete a basic impact assessment to assess potential impacts to natural and cultural resources of this work. The impact assessment will incorporate standard and site-specific measures to avoid and minimize potential impacts to natural and cultural resources.
