Berth 5 revetment rehabilitation - DP World Fraser Surrey

The proposed project

Berth 5 is an engineered shoreline bank revetment (riprap) which protects port infrastructure against hydraulic action (e.g., erosion resulting from waves and flooding) from the Fraser River. Recent inspections of the revetment found evidence of structural deterioration (e.g., loss of asphalt surface, loss of riprap rock, destabilized slope profile, and vegetation establishment). The damage warrants rehabilitation to maintain the facility in a safe and operational condition.

The riprap bank revetment at Berth 5 spans approximately 100 m of Fraser River shoreline on the left (southeast) bank of the southernmost channel. The existing bank revetment footprint covers an estimated area of 1,475 m2 over a shoreline length of approximately 100 m and includes both aquatic and terrestrial environments.

The Project works are intended to rehabilitate the full extent of the revetment.
