Wiarton Breakwater Replacement

Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Small Craft Harbours (SCH) intends to replace the breakwater pier at the Town Launch Ramp in Wiarton, ON also known as Bluewater Park Boat Launch. Wiarton is located on the west shore of Georgian Bay approximately 30 km northwest of Owen Sound.  

Overall the scope of the project includes:

  • Removal and disposal of the existing concrete sidewalk
  • Regrading the existing stone below the breakwater as well as adding new core stone to increase the crest height of the breakwater
  • Adjusting the existing armour stone and/or installing new armour stone to establish the new crest height and slope
  • Installing a reinforced concrete deck

July 20, 2022 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada Small Craft Harbours has issued it's Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
