Stswecem'c Xget'tem First Nation - Telus Telecommunications Tower - Canoe Creek/Meadow Lake

The Project includes construction of a 30 m high self-support Telus telecommunications tower, and installation of associated equipment including an 8' x 10' equipment shelter, step-down transformer and a 40 kW generator set with a diesel tank. The tower and associated equipment will be constructed on a gravel pad compound area. A chainlink fence will be constructed around the tower, generator, and shelter to prevent unauthorized access. A 10 m x 10 m turn around area will be constructed next to the compound gates. The electrical routing extending from the compound will include:  (1) a new 9.6 m overhead power and fibre line between an existing BC Hydro pole along Meadow Lake Road and a new drop pole and (2) a new 131.7 m underground power and fibre line between the new drop pole and the compound area. The existing access road will be used as the access to the new tower.

January 19, 2024 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed "Stswecem'c Xget'tem First Nation - Telus Telecommunications Tower - Canoe Creek/Meadow Lake", located in Stswecem'c Xget'tem First Nation, British Columbia is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.
