Upper Similkameen Indian Band - Water System Upgrades

 

The Upper Similkameen Indian Band (USIB) is completing the detailed design for the domestic water system (DWS) improvements on Chuchuwayha I.R. No. 2 near Hedley, BC. The purpose of this project is to provide safe and reliable domestic water to the community of Chuchuwayha.

 

The Project will include the following major infrastructure:

  • Two (2) water supply wells;
  • Pump installation into wells;
  • Water treatment plant (WTP);
  • Transmission watermain;
  • Distribution watermain;
  • Pressure Reducing Valves;
  • Reservoir; and
  • Reservoir access road.

 

The proponent has applied to Environment and Climate Change Canada for a Species at Risk Act permit under section 73(3).

 

The proponent has applied for funding from Indigenous Services Canada's Community Infrastructure program for the construction of the proposed project.

The public comment period on the project is closed. The authorities are considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
