Overhead Electrical Line Vegetation Clearing

Vegetation management along the 24km overhead electrical line corridor in Fundy National Park has been significantly overdue, with comprehensive maintenance lacking for several years. Recent severe weather events—including post-tropical storms, high winds, ice, and snowstorms—have caused trees and branches to fall onto utility lines, resulting in service disruptions to power, water, and communication systems within the park. Furthermore, vegetation in contact with electrical wires poses a significant risk of forest fires. Historically, the park has responded reactively to such incidents. However, it now intends to adopt a proactive approach by removing shrubs, trees, and overhanging branches along the corridor. This work will be completed to prevent vegetation from contacting the energized conductors. This infrastructure is vital for supplying essential services throughout Fundy National Park.
