New Containment Cell at Wood Islands Ferry Terminal, PE

Transport Canada is proposing to construct a new containment cell along the northwestern edge of the Wood Islands Ferry Terminal property, to accept future dredged materials.  Current design is a rock berm erected along the north, west, and south perimeter of the cell outward from the shoreline at the terminal. The construction of this containment cell will involve creating the berm using a layer of core stone, topped with filter stone, and further fortified with a layer of armour stone and will employ heavy equipment, including excavators and haul trucks, operating from both the shore and the berm.  Its overall footprint is estimated at 40,000 square meters with a capacity to contain about 100,000 cubic meters of dredged material.
