Maersk Wharves and Boardwalk Project, Halifax, NS

Develop Nova Scotia is improving coastal infrastructure at the Maersk Wharves on the Halifax side of Halifax Harbour. The project consists of two pieces of public boardwalk extension between Pilot and Svitzer Wharf, and new floating docks for public berthing. The area of interest is located within HPA managed lands in two sections of HPA waterlot between Pilot Wharf and Svitzer Wharf.

The boardwalk will be extended using steel and timber piles, with adjacent floating docks anchored by steel guide piles. Approximately 81 piles will be driven within the sections of new boardwalk within HPA managed lands.

The HPA managed waterlot area required to accommodate new floating docks and berthing is estimated at approximately 653 m2 with 31 m of linear berthing.

All new infrastructure will be designed and constructed to enhance the physical accessibility of the public boardwalk and to adapt to latest climate change and sea level projections.
