Shoreline Protection - Seawall Repairs

An armoured stone seawall, located around the perimeter of the shoreline adjacent to the St. Andrews Blockhouse National Historic Site, provides protection against erosion from the water and wave action of the Passamaquoddy Bay. Recent inspection of the seawall identified a number of deficiencies that could result in potential failure of the structure and cause erosion to the site. The Shoreline Protection – Seawall Repairs project intends to rehabilitate the stone seawall by repairing damaged areas along the structure. Some displaced stones will be temporary removed to allow the necessary work to repair and raise the degraded bed. Geotextile fabric will be installed before reinstating the stone. In other areas, displaced stones, currently sitting on the ocean floor, will be collected and fitted back in place. In addition, previously placed concrete pieces will be removed and replaced with stone.
