Dykeland Upgrade, Advocate Harbour Marsh, Cumberland County, NS

Nova Scotia Department of Public Works (NSDPW) is proposing to stabilize a 1,714 metre (m) length of eroding shoreline along their Advocate Marsh dyke, Advocate Harbour, Cumberland County, NS using riprap and armour rock, extend one aboiteau and install two new stormwater aboiteaux.  The Advocate Marsh project is one of 16 sites and projects included in Dykeland System Upgrades Project (DSUP) that is currently being undertaken by the NSDPW and Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture (NSDA). All works will be conducted during periods of low tide. Works below the ordinary high water mark (OHWM) are proposed to occur in January 2026. Tendering will be in 2025 with potential mobilization of equipment and materials to begin in late 2025. No work will be carried out below the OHWM in 2025. This Project will have a footprint of 16,880 m2 in fish habitat (1,165 m2 low saltmarsh; 9,790 m2 high saltmarsh; 5,925 m2 riverine habitat).
