Potential Regional Assessment of a Western Energy Corridor from Alberta to Manitoba

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change received a request to conduct a regional assessment of an interprovincial energy corridor, extending from east-central Alberta to northern Manitoba with associated marine shipping.

August 5, 2025 — On May 20, 2025, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change received a new request for a regional assessment to be conducted of a Western Energy Corridor from Alberta to Manitoba. On July 28, 2025, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada’s Vice President of Operations, on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, provided his response to the requestor, indicating that a regional assessment is not warranted under the Impact Assessment Act. The reasons for the decision are provided in the Vice-president's response.
