Bigstone Health Centre

Bigstone Cree Nation is replacing the existing temporary health building with a permanent building located on reserve at Jean Baptiste Gambler 183. The new health care center that will include clinic rooms, mental health and addictions supports, kitchen and cultural programming space. Construction will take place within an existing area of disturbance, adjacent to the current building. The existing temporary trailer and septic tanks will need to be removed in order to facilitate this construction. For the new building it is anticipated that a heated room will be required for additional freshwater storage and a new septic tank will be required. The intent is for the new septic tank to be an underground tank type. Site grading will be required to ensure proper drainage and to create adequate parking and loading areas for patrons, staff, building maintenance and operational needs.

Latest update

February 11, 2025,  – Indigenous Services Canada issued its Notice of Determination (iaac-aeic.gc.ca) and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
