Sturgeon River Pedestrian Bridge

The Proponent (Sturgeon Lake First Nation) aims to install the Sturgeon River Pedestrian Bridge (the Project) and construct approx. 1,500 m of 3.0 m wide pathway. New lights will be installed along the pathway as well.

Scope of project works:

-              Installation of a premanufactured bridge

-              Creation of a 1500 m, 3.0 m wide pathway

-              Tree clearing

-              Cleaning of debris and excavation work to prepare for installation of premanufactured bridge

-              General construction and earth works

The project is taking place on federal reserve lands at Sturgeon Lake Indian Reservation No. 101 (Indian Reserve Lands), specifically on Section 24 Township 51 Range 28 West of the 3rd Meridian. The project is not taking place within a Migratory Bird Sanctuary or National Wildlife Area.

The Project will involve 2,400 m2 of vegetation clearing and 13,300 m2 of area will be excavated. The Project will also involve works in and over water.

Latest update

February 11, 2024 - The public comment period on the project is closed. Infrastructure Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
