Taxiway B4 Pavement Rehabilitation at Edmonton International Airport

January 31, 2025 –Edmonton Regional Airports Authority must decide whether the proposed Taxiway B4 Pavement Rehabilitation Project located at the Edmonton International Airport is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, Edmonton Regional Airports Authority is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public [and may be posted online]. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Taxiway B4 Pavement Rehabilitation Project at the Edmonton International Airport will help improve long term performance for existing infrastructure, provide further safety measures to reduce foreign object debris and prevent damage to aircraft. The scope of work includes but not limited to: detailed project design, earthworks, drainage improvements and repaving. The project's forecasted total area of work is approximately 9,800 square meters.

March 26, 2025 – Edmonton Regional Airport Authority has determined that the proposed Taxiway B4 Pavement Rehabilitation at the Edmonton International Airport is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • community knowledge;
  • comments received from the public; and
  • technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Edmonton Regional Airports Authority is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Therefore, Edmonton Regional Airports Authority may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part..
