Pedestrian Bridge Replacement on Simmons Trail

Elk Island National Park proposes to replace a pedestrian bridge on Simmons Trail. Simmons Trail is a 2.6 km loop nested within the larger Shirley Lake Trail. The existing bridge has reached the end of its lifespan and repair is no longer an option. Proposed work is to remove the old bridge and replace it with a new clear span bridge of steel and wood construction. New construction will include abutments and will follow Parks Canada's design standards. Work will be assessed using a Basic Impact Assessment.
