Saddle Lake 40 Acre Housing Project

Saddle Lake Cree Nation proposes a 40 acre greenfield residential housing project consisting of 83 residential lots (single family houses and multi-family duplexes), roads, associated utilities (electrical, communication, water, wastewater), and stormwater drainage. Stormwater, water, and wastewater infrastructure will be connected to existing systems. During stage 2 redesign, Saddle Lake Cree Nation is proposing to service the lots with geothermal power. This will include installation of vertical closed-loop geothermal heating and cooling system. No production or injection wells, cooling towers, or permanent wastewater treatment systems are required. The project area currently includes a mix of fallow pasture, forested areas, and residential areas. Four distinct habitat types were identified in a biophysical assessment and include wetlands, grasslands, forest lands, and developed areas.
