Saddle Lake Cree Nation Townsite Pumphouse Project

Saddle Lake Cree Nation is proposing upgrades to the Saddle Lake townsite pumphouse, which is in a state of deterioration due to improper drainage and subsequent flooding. The Project includes new sanitary and stormwater lines and connections, outfall reconstruction, new concrete pads, and a new asphalt pad. The pumphouse location will remain the same, though the footprint of the entire Project including the concrete and asphalt pads will be increased. No tree clearing or excavation will be required in undisturbed areas. Activities will involve minor excavation surrounding the outfall, installation of a sandbag headwall, and regrading for the outfall and piping. Project works will include exposing the existing water and sanitary by saw-cutting the existing asphalt for a trench and repair/upgrade the existing tie-ins and connections. There will be relocation of existing bollards, fencing (barbed wire), and jersey barriers. Additionally, there will be the addition of gravel, asphalt and concrete  pads.

Latest update

June 25, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
