Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation Transfer Station

Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is closing the current open pit landfill and proposing to construct a new solid waste transfer station. The transfer station will be located near the First Nations wastewater lagoon facility and approximately 230m west of the existing open pit landfill. The project will involve doing earthworks to grade the area, installation of retaining walls, guardrails and bin pads for the 5 waste bins. Retaining walls to create material diversion bays to accommodate items such as wood and tires will also be constructed on the site. The transfer station will require a disturbed area of 8,750 square meters. The facility will also include a small office building, lights and a security fence.
