Flying Dust First Nation Residential Subdivision Development

Flying Dust First Nation is proposing the development of a new subdivision to meet the projected housing needs of the community, The proposed subdivision development project will involve the construction of residential lots, complete with underground utility installations, site roadways and ditching, and lot grading. The preferred location is Site 1, which bounds the commercial subdivision that is currently under construction to the north of Highway 55. The subdivision development will be constructed around an existing semi-permanent wetland, which will be preserved and utilized as a storm water retention pond for the development.

Site preparation activities will generally be limited to topsoil stripping. The proposed development area is currently used for agricultural purposes, and no tree clearing will be required during construction. Approximately 100 hectares of ground disturbance will be required for subdivision development. Ground disturbance activities will consist of underground utility installations, roadway construction, and lot grading.

All anticipated waste generation from construction activities will be responsibly handled and disposed of at designated off-reserve facilities. Procedures will also be followed to limit the amounts of waste generated during construction, and mitigate any potential contamination pathways for petroleum products from on-site equipment.
