Flying Dust First Nation Railway Infrastructure Development Project

Flying Dust First Nation is proposing to build a commercial development consisting of a strip mall with ten commercial rental units, hotel and conference center and commercial business park. Other future development at the site may include a gas bar and car wash. The site has undergone some groundworks to date including clearing and grubbing, along with some rough grading and installation of water and sewer. The project is situated on land which was previously subject to a railway expropriation and abuts the City of Meadow Lake along Highway 55.

The site was prepared previously during water and sewer installation. SaskPower will soon be installing a new three-phase distribution line near the project location and is working with the Nation to determine the most suitable route which will best service the project. Clearing, grubbing, and grading is completed. Any quarry materials required will be sourced from Nation-owned gravel pit located at Flying Dust IE No. 105F.

Waste generated during construction (general construction waste consisting primarily of discarded building materials) will be collected onsite and handled according to local and/or provincial regulations.
