Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation Well Completion

Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is planning to complete two previously installed raw water wells, Well No. 4 and Well No. 5. These new wells will be serviced by extending the existing raw water main currently servicing Well No. 3. A new access road extending from the existing Well No. 3 access road and a new well control building will also be constructed.

Well completions will involve excavating around the existing well casing and installation of a pitless adapter, as well as installation of all pumping and piping equipment within the casing. The well access road will consist of approximately 600 m of 6.5 m width roadway, complete with granular surfacing, ditching, topsoil replacement, and seeding. The new well control building will have a footprint of approximately 40 m2 and will be built adjacent to the existing Well No. 3 site. A new raw water main approximately 300 m in length will be installed in a common trench from the well control building to Well No. 5, and 300 m of individual raw water main will be installed extending from Well No. 5 to Well No. 4.

Site preparation activities will consist of clearing of approximately 1.5 hectares for the new access road.

All waste anticipated to be generated during construction will be responsibly managed and disposed of at designated off-reserve facilities. Measures will also be implemented to minimize waste generation and mitigate potential contamination pathways associated with the use of petroleum products during construction activities.
