Okanese Lagoon Access Road Upgrades

The Okanese First Nation is proposing to construct the new lagoon access roadway upgrade project. The project consists of widening of the existing road to a 7m wide driving surface and extending the turn around pad where the access road terminates at the lagoon. The road will be constructed utilizing nearby clay materials as fill, and surfacing will consist of 100mm of base course followed by 75mm of traffic gravel.

A culvert will also be replaced where a natural drainage course intersects the access road. This drainage course generally conveys water during spring melt periods, and is often dry during summer/fall. Erosion control measures will be implemented until adequate vegetative growth has re-established to mitigate sediment deposition to the drainage course.
