Standing Buffalo Day Care and Head Start

Standing Buffalo Datoka Nation is planning to construct a day care and head start to serve the needs of the community. The project includes construction of a single story building with a partial basement covering an area of approximately 8,000 square feet with associated infrastructure.

The project will include the construction of a single story building with a partial basement, secured outdoor play areas and a drop off area with parking lot and approach road. The project will require connections to nearby existing power and water services, and will utilize an on-site septic system for sanitary.

The proposed building site is situated on the lower portion of the north valley wall of the Qu'Appelle Valley overlooking Echo Lake and lies north of Sioux Road (Highway 210). The majority of the property is currently undeveloped and consists of a mixture of grassland and moderate to densely vegetated valley slopes. The site was selected to support land based learning as well as the visual connection to Echo Lake, providing outdoor learning opportunities.

Standard construction waste (wood, metals, concrete) is anticipated to be generated during construction. Waste generated during operation will be restricted to standard household waste.
