Baldy Prescribed Fire

The Baldy Lake prescribed fire unit is a 3,000 ha area located at the south western portion of the park. The unit is primarily in an aspen parkland area, with some large remnant patches of rough fescue and mixed grasses. The primary objectives of the prescribed fire are to restore 900 ha of grasslands within the Baldy Lake area, restore younger age classes within the aspen parkland forests, and reduce fuel load and continuity of fuels adjacent to the park boundary to reduce the threat of wildfire impacting neighboring lands.
