Multi-use Front Lake Community Walking Path

The George Gordon First Nation (the Recipient) is proposing the Multi-use Front Lake Community Walking Path Project. This proposal is located approximately 100 km north of Regina and will involve the construction of a 15 km long, 1.8 m wide multi-use pathway. The project area will cover 28 000 m2 and will include interpretive signage and benches along the path to showcase the history, significant events, and people of George Gordon First Nation.

Project works include:

- Construction of 15 km long, 1.8 m wide multi-use asphalt pathway and related

ground works;                                                                   

- installation of lights (100);

- installation of signage (50);

- installation of benches (20); and

- planting of 150 trees.

2025-01-24 - Housing, Infrastructure Communities Canada has determined that the proposed project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • community knowledge;
  • comments received from the public; and
  • technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Mitigation and monitoring measures taken into account for this determination included active and adaptive management measures that would be implemented for the protection of local environmental. Based on the consideration of these measures, Housing, Infrastructure Communities Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, Housing, Infrastructure Communities Canada may carry out the Project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the Project to be carried out in whole or in part.
