Waywayseecappo First Nation - School Water Treatment Plant Recovery

The Waywayseecappo School WTP was destroyed by a fire. WTP site is located approximately 120m NE of the school. The
foundation and below grade cisterns remain and have undergone engineering assessment. Existing process equipment within the
below grade pump, mechanical, and electrical room will be replaced. All WTP debris was taken to the Waywayseecappo Dump
for disposal. The WTP supplies potable water to 500 staff and students as well as 600 surrounding residences via a truck fill. The
objective is to return the potable water supply on an emergent basis. Waywayseecappo First Nation is currently proposing to rehabilitate the existing
foundation which includes cleansing, minor remediation, and resurfacing. A new wood frame superstructure is proposed for
construction over the existing foundation complete with metal cladding. In order to expedite returning the water supply to the
community, a temporary softener and chlorination treatment system will be installed while the design of a reverse osmosis (RO)
treatment system is completed.
