Underground stormwater retention basin project of the Chevreuil outfall

Following a rain event in the fall of 2017, the Huron-Wendat Nation Council noticed a surface overflow of stormwater at the intersection of Chevreuil and Chief Stanislas Koska streets. 

In this sense, to improve the conditions of the storm sewer system, the Council of the Huron-Wendat Nation wishes to set up a retention and control basin of the storm flow. The surface area of the basin is 3600 square meters (60m x 60m by 2.5m to a depth of 3.5m). The underground basin will be made of concrete and will be located in the Omer Lainé Park in Wendake. The interior of the pipe will also be lined to extend its life span.

June 21, 2023 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
